YDL Lower 18th May 2019
The second YDL Lower match of the season takes place this coming Saturday, 18th May 2019 at the York University Athletics Stadium , Heslington ,York YO10 5NA. All U13 and U15 athletes selected have now been informed. I appreciate that parents and athletes might still have a few queries, so hopefully this bulletin will help clear them up.

Venue
For those travelling by car, the event at the York University Athletics Stadium, Heslington, York YO10 5NA. There is ample free car parking in the zone to the right hand side of the track as you enter the complex.
Timetable and Events
The first event of the day is currently expected to be at 11am and the closing event is timetabled to finish at approximately 4.30pm subject to the match running on time. For those athletes not travelling on the coach, please try to arrive at least 90 minutes prior to your event. A copy of the timetable is attached here. It can also be found on the YDL website under the heading “Documents”. The website link is: http://www.ukydl.org.uk

Vests
All athletes are required to wear one of the two eligible club vest designs for the YDL matches. Use of a club vest is actually an essential part of many athletics events beyond just the YDL and it is up to parents to ensure that athletes have a vest available to wear for competitions where necessary – whether they be purchased or borrowed for the event. More details about vests are available elsewhere on this website and vests can be ordered online via the club shop.
Please note, as Team Manager I am not involved in the kit supply aspect of the clubs activities and consequently I do not have any vests to sell or lend on the day.
Please could any athlete with both the new and old design vests bring both to the match as they might be required to swap vests for team races.

Transportation
There is a coach for athletes, parents and volunteers which will be leaving Middlesbrough Sports Village at 8.30am prompt. The cost is £6 per head and please try if possible to bring the right money. Anyone requiring seats for this coach must advise me as soon as possible. Coaches have my contact details and can forward these to anyone who doesn’t currently have them.
I expect the coach will arrive back at the Sports Village anywhere between 6pm and 6.30pm depending on traffic, timetable slippage and any other eventuality. In any event we will advise athletes to contact you when we are approximately 20 minutes away from arriving back at Middlesbrough Sports Village.

Unaccompanied Athletes
I realise that some athletes will be travelling to the match on the bus unaccompanied for the day, or will have family members meeting them at the match. In this case the following applies:
i. Parents of an unaccompanied athlete must complete a Loco Parentis form. A copy can be downloaded here. I would be grateful if athletes can bring the signed Loco Parentis form with them on Saturday morning and hand it to me when they board the coach. Parents who provided a loco parentis form before the last match do not need to do so again
ii. Any athlete travelling to the match unaccompanied must not leave the venue to get a lift home with another athlete and parent until they have obtained the consent of their own parents and those parents have confirmed their consent to me
iii. Athletes travelling unaccompanied must not leave the venue under any circumstances except where they are getting a lift home (see ii.)
iv. Upon arrival back at Middlesbrough Sports Village athletes must not leave the facility to make their own way home unaccompanied. They must wait at the Sports Village until they are collected by a parent, guardian or other designated carer
