Coaches meeting 8th July in the cafe/meeting room at Clairville commencing at 7-30pm.
The meeting will start with a presentation by Trevor Langford, BSc (Hons) Sports Therapist, Teesside Sports Injury Clinic, on the facilities he and his colleagues can offer any athlete with injury problems. Trevor works with a colleague who handles our EA Elite athletes.
As before if you have any names not already given to Andrew McGuire and Sue Penny for the next NYAL 20th July then they would be welcome.
If you have any input ref the Glen Blenkinsop young athletes coaching system, i.e. a small group moving week by week, on say a Thursday, to a different event coach.
We also have a proposal by Carol Williams, she has offered to mentor some of her maturing athletes as coaches, again with a group of young/developing athletes.
If possible ideas relating to our "Athlete Awards" selection system would be welcome.
Any other topics requiring attention can be discussed if time allows.
Many Thanks Charles.
Dear All,
I would like to take this opportunity to inform you about a hurdles development session aimed at coaches in the region. We are looking to involve15-20 new (level 1 & 2) and existing coaches wishing to develop:
· Hurdles technique
· Event specific drills
· Their ability to lead practical training sessions
The session is to be held on Saturday 28 th June at Gateshead International Stadium in the Indoor Athletics Centre from 10.00am –12.00pm.
From discussions Les Jacques (Regional Hurdles Coach) has had with some of the speed coaches in the region it would appear that a hands on practical session with information handouts covering the content delivered in the session is the most preferable. Potentially we can look for a follow up session including theory at a later date should the initial programme go well.
Please get back to me asap if you are interested and feel free to pass this information on to any other hurdles coaches in the region who you feel may benefit from such a session.
Many Thanks,
John Stacey

Coaches Meeting June 12th, 7.30
Items on the agenda:
- At 7-30 prompt
Talk from David Lowes New "Athletics Development Officer for Tees Valley Sport"
- Upcoming NYAL match being held at Clairville 22nd June
- Developing the potential of our 11/12year olds
If time allows we would welcome ideas relating to our age group "Athlete Awards" system. For the U17s we currently use the NYAL standards as a first step and if we have a tie the regional Powerof10 followed by the National Powerof10.
We would also like to add an award for the "Club Athlete" of the year, this need not be an elite athlete but one who always turns up on match days and willingly tackles any event in which they can "safely" compete.
As an additional item Martyn Gordon "Cleveland Schools Championship Organiser" would welcome assistance with officiating, especially field events, at the upcoming Schools County Championships being held at Clairville 14th June start time 09.30am, this will give an early pm finish. Gordon's e-mail is martyngordon@hotmail.com
Please note:- if you know of a coach of MiddlesbroughAC (Mandale) athletes who may not be a member of our Club please mention our meeting to them, they are most welcome.

Dear Coach,
Following our last two well received coaches meetings you are cordially invited to the next one is scheduled for Thursday 3rd April (the week following our Cyril Elliott Open Meeting) to begin at 7-30.
As previously it will be held in the small meeting room (cafe) under the Clairville Stand. As many of our athletes will (hopefully) have competed in our Cyril Elliott meeting we will have some idea of performance levels but please bring your latest coaching group list so that team managers can assess the team members they will require for the upcoming 2008 season and your event preference for your athletes.
If anyone wants a reminder of the benefits of the Mobilis-Normalise-Bio-mechanical assessments Cyril, Paul and I will be available to advise as required. If anyone has a particular item they wish to discuss then please let me know and it will be included as a topic.
The main T & F season approaches with alarming speed but being prepared will help us achieve a good start and with your coaching skill and team managers enthusiasm and professional approach enable the "teams" and our athletes to perform at their best. I look forward to seeing you on the 3rd.
 With Very Best Regards Charles.
Free Level 1 Coaching Course
Are available for regional squad athletes, documentation should have been sent out to all, the next course will be on Sunday 30th of March to be held at Gateshead Stadium.
Any squad members that have not received there letters indicating this please contact Neil Cameron Performance and Development Coordinator for further details.
Coaching Meeting 12.02.08
Dear All, Just a reminder that we have a meeting planned for tomorrow evening 7-30 in the meeting room under the stand at Clairville Stadium to demonstrate the MOBILIS system, for
bio mechanical assessment of athletes. Knowledge of the system should help minimise injury to athletes of all ages. Please bring your up to date list of athletes and their chosen events, if poss with pbs, this will assist team managers as we approach the season. Please bring any prospective coaches you may feel would find this demo useful.
Best Regards
Charles

Coaching Meeting
Dear Coach,
Following the successful first Club Coaches meeting in December we have planned another for Tuesday 12th February start time 7-30, after training in the Cafe/meeting room under the main Clairville stand. (the 7pm start last time was deemed a bit early as several coaches had to leave their training groups before the end of their sessions )
There are 2 sections, the first, a request, will be to assist our team managers in T&F by all coaches bringing their current training squad lists with your preferred events + any additional events you may wish them to try (if teams are short) and if possible their availability during the season. The club Web site has the Club and Championship dates available for download if required.
The second will be to introduce to all coaches an easy method of Biomechanical screening and Exercise models to make screening of athletes of all ages, but generally those in the growing phase, possible.
Three M'broAC (Mandale)coaches attended a one day "Mobilis" course organised by EA North East and held at Gateshead Indoor Academy, Paul Kitson, Cyril Banks and me (Charles Stuart). We were exposed to a one hour talk on what we would be doing and then for the rest of the day were involved in "Hands On" assessments with techniques for remediating any tight muscle groups or nerve trauma where it was indicated.
The methods taught will definitely cut down the number of athletes having to miss training and competition due to biomechanical injury. We will endeavour to provide a hands on demonstration even if the "recipient " is me (not a pretty site). If required we could possibly arrange for one or more of the three trained coaches to screen various groups, the decision will be yours. Although not particularly invasive younger athletes will require parental approval and if possible presence of a parent during the "screening".
I look forward to your presence on the 12th Feb.
With Best Regards
Charles Stuart M Inst MC

Coaching Meeting details convened by Charles Stuart Chairman of Middlesbrough AC Mandale.
I would like to invite you to an informal Coaches meeting lasting approx 30 mins on Thursday 22nd November 7.00pm (after training) in the Cafe Room under the Stand at Clairville.
The idea is to discuss squad strengths and to identify weaknesses which need addressing if we are to field complete teams in the 2008 T& F season. We need also to review the 2007/8 XC teams status ref strength.
I know you are all busy people so the meeting, albeit short, should help us to view our status without drawing too much on your free time. If it is felt the meeting provided a suitable "sounding board" for ongoing discussion then future meetings can be planned.
Thank's for your co-operation and continued committment to the coaching of aspiring athletes, be assured, many successful people would not be so had it not been for your efforts in coaching them during their impressionable years.
With Best Regards Charles.

Coaches Wanted
Owing to the number of young people and adults wishing to join the club, we urgently need more coaches to ensure that we do not have to turn anyone away.
We particularly need volunteers to coach middle and long distance events. Previous experience of athletics is not necessary.
Many of our coaches came into the sport as parents wanting to support their children, they will tell you how rewarding it is.
You will be supported by the club and funding may be available for those willing to commit to the club. An enhanced CRB check will be required.
Please contact us if you are interested or require any further information.

Middlesbrough AC would like to thank all the coaches who attended the inaugural coaches meeting which took place at Clairville Stadium last night.
The resolve and professionalism of all who attended was one of the highlights and it was agreed that monthly meetings would become a regular feature.
The next meeting has been scheduled for Thursday 13th July at 7.30 pm and is open to all members interested in the coach structure within Middlesbrough AC.
For more details regarding this forum please contact Carol Williams : Coach Coordinator
With the opening of Clairville Stadium and the success of Middlesbrough AC acheiving clubmark the committee would like to consult it's coaches regarding the future of the club and how it can build upon it's present reputation.
With the successful bid to gain the Olympics 2012 the club is aware of the impact that it can have on the area, it's athletes and the coaches. Already the club is experiencing requests to become a part of it's organisation and as such the committee has agreed to set up a working party in order to review the situation of integrating new members into the club and the options available to ensure that the current situation is not affected or disrupted.
In order for all to gain an overall view of the sport through the eyes of England Athletics etc. a meeting with Richard Hunter (Regional Manager) and Bill McGuirk (Regional Chair) has been scheduled for Tuesday 6th June 8pm at Clairville Stadium .By scheduling the coaches meeting for the 15th June it is felt that all involved will hopefully have a clearer understanding of the impact of the restructure of athletics, clubmark and the part that the club and it's members can play in the lead up to 2012.
The working party will include Coach Co-ordinator (Carol Williams), Junior club Co-ordinator (Eve Patton), Schools Liaison Officer (Cyril Banks) and Chair (Anne Banks). Please don't hesitate to contact the above with any ideas that you may wish to put forward to the group for consideration in regard to the future of Middlesbrough AC.
For confirmation of venue please contact Carol Williams (Coach Co-ordinator)
